Life insurance after cancer. Yes, really.

Had cancer, or still having treatment? That doesn't make the answer no. We're a UK specialist broker, and we find the insurers who'll look at all of you, not one word on a form.

Why is life insurance so hard to get after cancer?

You've probably been here. A long form. Some very personal questions. Then a no, or a price so high you read it twice.

Here's why. A lot of insurers feed your answers into a computer first. The computer sees the word "cancer", and too often that's where it stops reading. It never gets to your treatment, your recovery or the last few years of your life.

We read the whole thing. And we know which insurers will too.

    What we can help with

What life insurance can I get with cancer?

There are three routes. Which one fits depends on where you are with your cancer: still having treatment, in remission, or given the all-clear years ago. One call and we'll tell you which.

    Life insurance after cancer

The full-fat version, for people who've finished treatment. You answer medical questions, and the insurer may ask your GP for a report. More paperwork, but the payout can be big enough to clear a mortgage. It isn't guaranteed, and we'll tell you if it's realistic.

    Guaranteed acceptance cover

No medical questions, no medical exam. Mostly for over 50s. Within the age limits, nobody's turned down. The payout's smaller and there's a waiting period, but the answer is yes.

    Cancer & Hospital Cover

A hospital cash plan, accident cover and life cover in one, with no medical questions. Accident cover and a free 24/7 GP from day one. Hospital cash for illness and the life cover start after 12 months.

    Sound familiar?

Turned down for life insurance and tired of hearing no
Worried how the family would manage the mortgage
Quoted a price that made your eyes water
Not sure where to even start

That's exactly what we're here for.

    How does it work?

    1. 01

      Talk to us

Ring us and tell us about your cancer and what you want the cover for. Prefer to type? Answer our questions online first and we'll come back to you.

    2. 02

      We do the digging

We look at the insurers who might say yes: the specialists, the big names and the guaranteed plans. We work out what's realistic before you apply for anything.

    3. 03

      You decide

We explain what's on offer in plain English. Happy? We set it up and do the paperwork. If there's no realistic route right now, we'll tell you, and when that might change.

No upfront payment. You pay by monthly direct debit, and the first payment usually comes out 2 to 4 weeks after the plan starts. Your policy documents come by post or email.

The small print, in big print

    Here's the deal.

    Nothing to pay today

Your first direct debit comes out 2 to 4 weeks after the plan starts.

    Our advice is free

Insurers pay us when a plan starts. You don't.

    Changed your mind? Fine.

You can cancel within 30 days. After that you can still cancel any time, with no exit fee. Your cover stops and you don't get your payments back.

    Real people, every time

You'll talk to one of our own team. Not a robot, not a script.

    Your questions, answered

Often, yes. What's possible depends on the type of cancer, how it was treated, how long you've been in remission or clear, and your health now. If full cover isn't open to you yet, there are plans that accept everyone within their age limits.

Yes, just not the full kind yet. While you're having treatment, full life insurance usually isn't on offer. Guaranteed plans and Cancer & Hospital Cover don't ask medical questions, so they'll accept you within their age limits. Once your treatment's finished, full cover may open up too.

All of them. Breast, prostate, bowel, skin (including melanoma), thyroid, testicular, cervical, ovarian, lung, and blood cancers like lymphoma and leukaemia. What's possible depends on your details, not just the name of the cancer.

You're in good company. It happens a lot after cancer. One insurer's no isn't every insurer's no. We look at the specialists and the big names, and if none of them fit, the guaranteed plans.

Life insurance, guaranteed acceptance cover and Cancer & Hospital Cover. Tell us what you want the money for and we'll point you to the right one.

It depends on your age, your health, how much cover you want and the insurer. Cancer & Hospital Cover starts at £10 a month. For full life insurance, we get real prices for you before you decide anything.

No. Keep it. A policy you took out before your diagnosis is usually worth holding on to, as long as you answered its questions honestly at the time. Talk to us before you change anything.

Yes. Life insurance pays out if you die from cancer, as long as you answered the insurer's questions honestly when you applied. Plans with no medical questions have a waiting period first, and pay much less, or nothing, for death from illness during it. Life insurance doesn't pay out just because you're diagnosed with cancer. That's what critical illness cover does.

Income protection isn't available after cancer, and critical illness cover rarely is. So we focus on life cover and the plans on this site.

No. Insurers pay us when a plan starts. Our advice costs you nothing.

Nothing upfront. Your first payment comes out 2 to 4 weeks after the plan starts. No lock-in either. You can cancel within 30 days, and any time after that with no exit fee. Your cover stops when you do.
